Wyoming Wilderness Trip - July/August 2024

Wyoming Wilderness Trip - July/August 2024 Get out of the car, get on a horse, and get ready to rediscover life! Are you a Dutton at heart? Whether you are a John, Casey, Rip … or Beth, this journey into the wilderness will undoubtedly change your life. Talisman Therapeutic Riding is partnering with Stetter Outfitters to provide a transformative experience in the Wind River Mountain Range of Wyoming. A journey of exploration – into the wilderness. This retreat is for all levels of horse experience, and appropriate for most ages 12 and above. Rediscover yourself through adventure in the beauty of nature. From the very first steps, you will be transported back in time as the trail weaves through scenic vistas and the drone of everyday life disappears. The well-trained Stetter herd of horses and mules will be your equine-partners as you transverse the scenic vistas of the Wind River Range. Enjoy the expansive scenery and rolling meadows of native flora and fauna. The terrain changes quickly as we ascend to over 11,000 feet and meet some of the most breath-taking views of one of the wildest places in the world! The winding path skims the shoreline of five crystal clear lakes, each a remnant of the glacier flow that imparted the geographic grandeur of the area. Daylight sun shimmers across the water, as the quick flashes of brook and cutthroat trout delight even the most reluctant angler. The Stetter basecamp is a piece of heaven. Situated on the Wind River, this rustic retreat is a short hike to the base of Gannett Peak. The canvas tents line the boundary of the camp and are complemented with hand-made rope beds ready for a cozy night of sleeping under the stars. The wafting aroma of freshly brewed coffee is the welcoming signal that the camp kitchen is open for business. A menu of hearty meals fuels the week of adventure, as each meal is prepared by an experienced backcountry cook. The warm glow and crackling sound of the campfire provides the perfect ambiance for the group to gather and share their cowboy stories. The evening events are typically kicked off with a display of horsepower (and mule power) as the herd makes its way out to the lush meadows for overnight grazing. Watch as the horses are pushed into their evening foraging areas. If you hear grazing next to your tent at night, do not fear, it is just one of the equine partners coming back to check on you!
